Industrial hood vents are fine and dandy if you’re running a restaurant, but in the residential sphere a seamless look will heat up kitchens going into 2019. Whether in an traditional or modern design, it’s all about a quieter, artful look over the oven. Here are 15 range hood design ideas that are anything but eyesores.

We’ll be seeing tons of textural surfaces such as concrete – or amazing riffs on the real thing. Craftsmanship is a key trend going into 2019. So we’re not surprised special sinks are making headway, such as this hammered copper one by the UK’s Plain English. Warm copper has a Little House On The Prairie homespun quality about it that we’re loving. Shopping around? Another trend? Forged-iron cabinetry. The vibe is both edgy and elegant. It’s a snazzy way to showcase your wares, as seen in this gorgeous space designed by the Masters of Flip team (that also illustrates trend number two – all about showing off your collectibles).

Backsplashes that look hand-hammered have hit kitchens. The texture and tone of these weathered white zellige terracotta tiles by Clé tile are divine. The tile, interestingly enough, is made up of dozens of shades of white including grey, pink, cream, celadon and blue, hence its tonality. There are all manner of fancy-schmancy appliances on the market. But have you ever considered your light switch? (Are you telling us you’re going to do a major renovation and then pop in a plastic plate? DIYER, puh-leeze!) Adorne by Legrand’s Wave Switch is both smart and sleek. Too much white can feel sterile in the kitchen, which is probably why an overload of this neutral in these earthy-loving times is starting to feel tired and a bit ho-hum.
