The Property Brothers Reveal What ‘Forever Home’ Means to Them

Property Brothers
Property Brothers will host a new show called Forever Home.

You’ve seen HGTV Canada’s favourite twins on hundreds of episodes of Property Brothers, Buying and Selling, Brother vs. Brother and more. Their new show Forever Home premieres this summer. We chatted with Drew and Jonathan Scott about what ‘forever home’ means to them.

A Forever Home is For Everyone
Drew reveals how they came up with the concept for the new show: “Over the years, Johnathon and I have had so many people that say to us: ‘You help people on Property Brothers when they’re looking to buy a house to renovate. And then you help people on your show Buying and Selling when they’re looking to sell. But, what about all us other people who already own our house? And we just want to make it what we were hoping it could be one day.’ And so that’s why we decided to launch Property Brothers: Forever Home. Because now whether you’ve owned your house for six days or 60 years, you’re eligible for the show.”

A Forever Home Makes You Happy
“A forever home is really what we’ve always been trying to give our clients,” says Drew. “A place that make them happy. A place that they’re proud to bring friends and family over. We love turning a house into a home and somewhere people want to stay.”

A Forever Home Makes Your Life Easier
“Everybody’s scenario is different,” says Jonathan. “Every family dynamic is different. So that’s what I love about it. Your home should make your life easier, whatever point you are in your life. As your life changes, your needs for your home change.”

A Forever Home Fosters Family Time
“We see a lot of people today are looking for ways for the family to spend more time together,” says Jonathan. “So, creating multipurpose spaces within the home: specialty rooms, like a movie room or games room or yoga room, something like that. That’s kind of a cool thing to see.”

A Forever Home Has Outdoor Space
“A lot of people that we meet: what they think is a great idea for their forever home is extending their indoor living outside,” says Drew. “It’s also a great way to add square footage, your liveable square footage, without having to do an addition to the home. It’s a lot more cost effective.”
