Our Favourite Pieces From IKEA’s New Vintage Collection

Nytillverkad collection

IKEA just dropped the second Nytillverkad collection. To celebrate 80 years, the company released home products that pay tribute to the iconic vibe of the late 1970s to the early 1980s. The collection highlights IKEA’s archive favourites by reintroducing designs by Niels Gammelgaard, Bent Gantzel-Boysen, Sven Fristedt and Inez Svensson – but with a more modern look.

Here is everything you need to know about the new drop, plus our favourite pieces to snag now before they’re gone.

When Does the Nytillverkad Collection Launch?

The new Nytillverkad Collection was released this October 2023 and is available online and in stores right now.

What Makes This Second Nytillverkad Collection Different?

Compared to the previous Nytillverkad collection (that was released earlier this year), this offering boasts clean, simple shapes with a totally different colour palette, focusing on striking shades of orange, red, white and black. This second collection is meant to allow shoppers to rediscover IKEA’s beloved vintage products and have them in their home without them feeling dated.

Our Favourite IKEA Nytillverkad Pieces to Shop Now

Let’s take a look at our favourite pieces to shop for before they’re gone, shall we?

Bowl Shaped Armchair

A timeless classic designed by Niels Gammelgaard in 1983, this armchair is comfortable and chic. New colours include black and bright orange, which pays homage to the early 1980s. It’s made from steel and polyamide so you know it’s sturdy and will last for years.

SKÅLBODA Armchair, IKEA, $100.

Low Pile Rug

One of the more popular products in the collection is the STOENSE rug which was originally introduced by IKEA in 1959. As part of the new collection, it has been brought back to life in an amazing bold red hue. Despite it being low pile, the rug is thick enough that it provides a super soft surface to walk on.

STOENSE Rug, IKEA, $170.

White JÄRLÅSA Side Table

Metal Side Table

This modern take on the original JÄRLÅSA table features solid metal bars and wing nuts to make it more secure. It’s the perfect size to fit in small spaces and is multifunctional enough to use as a bar cart or bookshelf. Plus, it can hold up to 100 kg – how great is that?

JÄRLÅSA Side Table, White, IKEA, $80.

TUVKORNELL Candle Holder

Orange Candle Holders

Dress up your mantle, countertops or side tables with this candle holder set. We’re obsessed with the sleek and simple minimalist design that was originally created in 1982. This new collection features the bright orange hue we’ve become a huge fan of.

TUVKORNELL Candle Holder (Set of 3), IKEA, $12.

NICKFIBBLA Cushion Cover

Striped Cushion Cover

The bright orange and white stripes are an iconic design by Inez Svensson that will surely bring a nice pop of colour into your home during the colder months, when you need it most. Check out the variation of this pillow, featuring white as the main colourway, for a more muted look.

NICKFIBBLA Cushion Cover, IKEA, $8.

Mid-Century Stool

If you’re looking for a comfortable stool, look no further than the HOLMSJÖ. The wooden legs embrace traditional Scandinavian design, while the plush cushion makes it inviting to guests. This mid-century piece is a must have that we can see selling out quickly.

HOLMSJÖ Stool, IKEA, $80.
