Wedding season is in full swing! After two years of postponed events, it’s exciting to finally be able to gather with big groups again. As much as we love engagement parties, bridal showers and of course, the wedding itself, gift-giving can get pretty pricey. If you’re looking for a thoughtful homemade present for the lovebirds in your life, this DIY clay ring dish is a gorgeous gift that will be treasured for years to come. Here’s how to make your own DIY clay ring dish:
- Oven-bake clay
- Rolling pin
- Butter knife
- Small shallow bowl or pinch bowl
- Metallic paint pen
Step One: Roll out a ball of clay until it’s about 1/16” thick.
Step Two: Press a cutting of greenery into the clay. Use a rolling pin to gently flatten.
Step Three: Use a pair of tweezers to carefully remove the greenery.
Step Four: Meanwhile, press the rim of a cup down onto the clay to form the round shape of the ring dish.
Step Five: Use a butter knife to trim the edges.
Step Six: Place the round of clay into an oven-safe small shallow bowl. Carefully press down and smooth out the edges.
Step Seven: Bake according to the package instructions. To minimize the risk of the bowl cracking, place the bowl in the oven before preheating. Let it fully cool down in the oven before removing.
Step Eight: Once cooled, use a metallic paint pen to colour in the greenery outline.
