A Valentine’s Day Special: HGTV Canada’s Most Romantic Moments and Couples

The ex-country music star is singing love ballads to her fiancé Ryan this year as they celebrate their first Valentine’s Day as an engaged couple. Kortney met Ryan online (check out their first date story). Talk about a meet-cute in the digital age! While some couples argue over directions, Kortney admitted that the only time these two fight is when they play board games. Nothing like a healthy dose of competition to heat things up!

Sarah Richardson and her husband, Alex, share just about everything. They are partners in life, love and business. Although collaborating on their Whistler, B.C. vacation rental had it’s fair share of tense moments, their favourite way to destress and connect is through adventures in the great outdoors. This Valentine’s Day we wouldn’t be surprised if they’re practicing their swing on the golf course or zip lining through a forest at top speed.

Sebastian Clovis made a name for himself on the football field in his pre-HGTV Canada days, but he met his match when his partner Ayanna joined him for his latest show, Gut Job. With Sebastian’s vision and Ayanna’s creativity, this on- and off-screen team made serious reno magic happen.

What was initially a business meeting to work on Mandy’s public speaking, quickly developed into a beautiful and fun-loving relationship. Mandy and Lauren speak many love languages – from running a farm together, making beautiful meals for each other, to old fashioned love notes. Their support for one another is infectious. Valentine’s Day may just be one day, but Erin and Ben Napier of Home Town take a whole week to celebrate their anniversary in December. So while we don’t know what they have planned this year for Cupid’s day, we imagine it’s full of love letters and a whole lotta huggin’.

Valentine’s Day may look a little different this year since the couple welcomed their first baby, Parker, in 2022, but there is more love in the air than ever before.

Now, Baby Jojo is no longer a baby, and the Baeumlers have enjoyed a wild ride, building homes, building a resort on Island of Bryan and living in one of the most beautiful (and romantic) places on Earth: Caerula Mar Club in the Bahamas.

If romance were a sport, Scott McGillivray would be considered an Olympian. In an episode of Moving the McGillivrays, Scott convinces Sabrina to join him at the worksite on her birthday under the guise of needing her help. Instead, he set up an elaborate delivery of flowers for his wife. Scott lowered the basket of flowers using an enormous crane. The celebration even included a cake! This definitely ranks high on the romance scale.

Talk about a power couple! Looks like Jonathan and Zooey are still in the honeymoon stage and going strong. They first met on the set of Carpool Karaoke and they were flirting so much that producers told Jonathan they had to do major editing. Four years later and they’re still sending each other flirty texts and keeping the flame burning.

Love isn’t all chocolates and flowers – it’s also a lot of hard work. Fixer Upper hosts Chip and Joanna Gaines have demonstrated, time and again, how setting goals and achieving them can pay off with a loving relationship. One of our favourite quotes from Chip was when he said to Joanna: “Who won in life? Me. Because I got to marry you.”

Sarah Keenleyside’s picture-perfect wedding in Prince Edward County was just the beginning of this fairytale romance.

Nearly five years and two kids later, Sarah and her husband, award-winning singer/songwriter Justin Rutledge, still make life look beautiful, even when they’re wiping noses and sticky hands. It’s just the Backyard Builds co-host’s ability to create beauty wherever she goes!
