Hollywood directors Chris and Roberta Hanley are a creative power couple known for their innovative films like cult-hit American Psycho and The Virgin Suicides. However, the two have also made a name for themselves in the world of architecture and design with their one-of-a-kind Invisible House.

Situated in Joshua Tree, California, the house was crafted with renowned architect Tomas Orsinski, who had previously worked with Frank Gehry. The Invisible House is currently up for sale for $18M USD. If that’s not in your budget, it can also be rented on Airbnb as a luxury stay. 

The 5,500-square-foot mirrored home is made using heat-reflecting Solarcool glass, which showcases the surrounding desert scenery. Don’t you love how it blends seamlessly into nature?

Cool Features of The Invisible House

This modern desert home might look familiar if you’re a sci-fi film buff. The iconic science-fiction film 2001: A Space Odyssey heavily influenced this jaw-dropping home’s design. 

The Invisible House’s eco-friendly features include a foam roof and solar-electric system, making this architectural masterpiece a model of sustainability. The three-sided glass walls provide a unique take on indoor-outdoor living and offer stunning desert views throughout. Check out the spectacular rain shower in the primary suite’s bathroom!

The Joshua Tree masterpiece also features a 100-foot heated indoor swimming pool. The pool area also has a fabulous 224-square-foot projection wall designed to screen films and project photographs.
