Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge Shop at IKEA…They’re Just Like Us!

During a Royal visit to Sweden and Norway, Prince William and Duchess Kate stopped by the Swedish National Museum for Architecture and Design in Stockholm, where they chatted with IKEA’s head of Design Marcus Engman. After the visit, Engman told reporters: “They also revealed that they have IKEA pieces for the children’s rooms.” Naturally, that got us wondering about which IKEA furniture the little Royals are using, and we can offer some suggestions for IKEA pieces that any child – Royal or otherwise – will enjoy.

The KURA bed is an IKEA classic, offering an elevated bunk bed above a cozy play area (it’s also flexible, giving parents the option to bring the bed to floor level if desired). And try not to laugh while imagining flustered Prince William trying to put this sucker together by himself with nothing but an Allen key and a bottle of scotch…

Easy to assemble and just as easy to hide away when playtime’s over, this child-sized tent remains a favourite for kids – and let’s be honest, it may also be the nearest to honest-to-goodness camping that Prince George and Princess Charlotte will ever experience.

There’s something whimsical, almost Disney-esque, about IKEA’s MAMMUT children’s furnishings, and a setup like this will allow Princess Charlotte to practice those elaborate Royal table manners in preparation for having tea with her great-grandmother the Queen.

While it’s tough to gauge how well IKEA’s space-saving TROFAST storage unit will mesh with the furnishings at Kensington Palace, there’s no denying how handy it is for storing toy cars, LEGO blocks or any other Royal playthings when not in use.

The star and moon motif is a classic look when adding some light to a child’s bedroom, and these STJARNA wall-mounted lights are sure to be a favourite for Royals and non-Royals alike.
