Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Eyeing Kylie Jenner’s Former Malibu Rental

Reports emerged that the former Duke and Duchess of Sussex were looking at this Malibu mansion known as Petra Manor. While the Daily Mail reported its value at about $7 million, Variety estimated the 1.75-acre estate is actually worth closer to $20 million.

Petra Manor can currently be rented on VRBO, offering well-heeled guests such amenities as a posh pool, private tennis court and more than 12,000 square feet of interior living space. Expect to spend big, as the price is a hefty $14,500 per night.

Petra Manor is hidden within Serra Retreat, an exclusive guard-protected gated community in Malibu. If Meghan and Harry decide to settle down here, their neighbours will include Patrick Dempsey, James Cameron, Scott Caan and more.

According to the Daily Mail, it was Malibu resident Caitlyn Jenner who blabbed about the couple’s apparent interest in the area, telling a British talk show, “I heard they were looking for a house in Malibu.”

Petra Manor has a prestigious pedigree when it comes to celebrities. The home was built in 2015 by then-spouses David Charvet (Baywatch) and Brooke Burke (Dancing With the Stars), on property they purchased from Mel Gibson. Keeping Up with the Kardashians billionaire Kylie Jenner rented the place for a few weeks during the summer of 2018, posting plenty of pics on her various social media platforms.

The entrance is as grand as it gets, with a double-height foyer and elegant staircase to the second level.

Adjacent to the dining room on the main level is this cozy, yet massive theatre room, which the VRBO listing describes as “the focal point of the home,” complete with “a near-movie theatre-size screen and surround-sound system” along with “an abundance of plush furniture and a roaring fireplace.”

“A wine cellar and tasting room provides more than sufficient room for your favourite vintages,” the listing adds.

The main-level powder room is one of 10 bathrooms found within the 12,249-square-foot home.

This lovely lounge area located off the theatre is “complete with bar seating, an enormous sectional sofa, fireplace and access to the lovely grounds.”

Meghan and Harry can enjoy an apres-film cocktail in this marble-topped bar in the lounge area.

“The kitchen is a culinary wonder, with wide plank floors, recessed lighting and two centre islands,” the listing declares.

The kitchen also has a “sub-zero refrigerator and freezers, a walk-in refrigerator, Wolf oven and microwave and Miele appliances,” notes the listing.

A large pantry is tucked away just off the kitchen, offering ample storage for dry goods.

Described as a “keeping room just off the kitchen,” this is “a wonderful spot for casual socializing while remaining close to the kitchen and meal preparation. This room is a vision in white with walls, carpeting and furniture monochromatic with a dazzling burst of colour on the walls, an enormous flat-screen TV and a luminous fireplace.”

Although this powder room contains only a toilet, sink and crystal chandelier, there’s a lot going on design-wise.

At the top of the stairs, a wood-planked landing offers the perfect place to ogle the rustic cobblestone-style ceiling treatment above the foyer.

The master bedroom is beyond spacious, offering a separate sitting area far removed from the bed. Sliding doors open the bedroom to the outdoors, where a private deck overlooking the manicured grounds awaits.

Whimsy and colour mark this bathroom, one of the home’s 10, which features a large glass-enclosed walk-in shower.
