Nespresso Releases Smart Coffee Maker

Having revolutionized single-serve coffee-making, Nespresso is once again hot on the trail of consumer trends with the release of Prodigio, its first ever smartphone connected coffee machine.

The new Prodigio machine allows the owner to prepare coffee remotely, be
alerted when they are running low on their favourite Grands Crus and even be notified of the
perfect time to descale, or if the capsule container is full.

Using Bluetooth Smart ® technology, the Nespresso Prodigio links with
the tried and true Nespresso smartphone app and with the swipe of a finger users are able to brew their favourite cup of joe from the comfort of their sofa. The joys of the app include automatic brewing at any given time, automatic turn-off, a variety of ordering and re-stocking options and a slew of maintenance alerts.

As impressive an experience as a home Nespresso machine provides, if you get a chance to visit a Nespresso boutique and cafe, whether to restock on your favourite Grands Crus (Roma 8 all the way!) or to check out a new machine, don’t pass up the chance. The cafe and boutique in Toronto’s posh Yorkville area is a modernist feat, with plenty to feast on for all the senses.

Designed by French architect, Francis Krempp, the concept for the Nespresso boutique is a combination of an Art Deco feel with contemporary shapes and materials.

“An eclectic mix of materials, comprising the warmth of wood, the luxury of leather, the high-tech nature of metal and the purity of glass”, reads the Nespresso website, in describing the visual style of its boutiques. All the boutiques share a similar aesthetic.
