Leanne and Steve Ford: The Restoration Duo Behind Restored by the Fords

Leanne and Steve Ford are siblings, and she praises her brother for being a “handy guy” and using his carpentry skills to bring her ideas to life.

Leanne is the designer in the family and her first home was a historic schoolhouse that hadn’t been touched since the 1960s. She wanted to bring it to life and make it more modern, but all the contractors she had in mind didn’t work out so she turned to Steve and they took matters into their own hands.

Steve loves skiing, snowboarding and rafting and did seasonal contracting jobs to pay for his hobbies. It wasn’t until his sister Leanne called him for help with her schoolhouse purchase, that he made it his full-time job.

Leanne actually spent 15 years in the fashion industry as a stylist and creative director in New York and Los Angeles. Her past creative experiences is why she loves mixing old and new together, as she feels this blend is what makes a home interesting.

Leanne and Steve make a great team and love working together. She’s the brains behind the designs and he can usually take any vision or idea she proposes and make it come to life.

Once Leanne and Steve finished working on the old schoolhouse she bought, they started getting requests from family and friends. One redesigned and renovated house led to another and eventually they made designing homes their primary job.

Leanne and Steve look for character-filled homes that are eccentric, unusual or unique in the Pittsburgh area, so they can transform the old into new again. We can’t wait to see these spectacular renovations come to life on Restored by the Fords, Mondays at 10pm e/p.
