IKEA’s New ÖMSESIDIG Collection Celebrates Latin American Culture Through Decor

Setting the mood for Spring and Summer celebrations, IKEA’s new limited-edition ÖMSESIDIG collection lets you add vibrant colours to the decor for your next gathering.  With 30 unique items available in-store and online at IKEA Canada from April 2023, this new collection was designed in collaboration with nine creatives from Mexico, Chile and Colombia who work in the fields of design, fashion, art, food, and architecture.

Shop IKEA’s New ÖMSESIDIG Collection

Named after the Swedish word for mutual, this collection was born out of the shared curiosity between IKEA and the designers to make bold items to celebrate and socialize in style. The ÖMSESIDIG collection captures Latin America’s rich and diverse culture, crafts and colours into functional and stylish pieces for your home, ranging from glass and tableware to printed textiles and cushion covers.

Here are five of our favourite items from IKEA’s limited edition ÖMSESIDIG collection:

This mouth-blown carafe designed by Liliana Ovalle is versatile enough to go from being your everyday water pitcher to where you serve homemade sangria on a warm summer’s evening.

Swap out your solid colour cushion covers for a bold pattern printed on a soft cotton fabric designed by Trini Guzmán.

“I really love to use colours in all my art to make people feel like they are also at a carnival with me. Colour is the energy that everybody brings to the party,” says Diana Ordóñez from Colombia. Balancing out the bright hues of the rest of the collection, this sombre tablecloth designed by Agustín Nicolás Rivero was inspired by the deep Andes mountain range.

What to Know About the ÖMSESIDIG Collection

When does the collection launch? It’s available now online and in-store.

How many pieces are in the collection? There are 30 items in the collection, including three different covers for the SYMFONISK picture frame with a Wi-fi speaker.

What are the pieces made of? Materials in the collection vary from metal to textiles to glass.

How much do pieces from the ÖMSESIDIG collection cost?  Prices range from $4 to $50.
