Performer, singer, songwriter and Oscar-winning artist Idina Menzel ventures to sunny Los Angeles to show her gratitude to a long-time friend. Idina Menzel’s close friend James runs a local youth basketball program that teaches kids (including her son) skills on the court and skills in life. Idina’s goal is to build James a beautifully designed and comfortable work space where James can work in peace.
With the reno’s underway, Idina gets familiar with the challenges of construction design. “I’m so surprised they do so much!” says Idina. “I felt like it was very therapeutic smashing stuff”. It’s clear Idina let loose and let it go during renovations.
Though the reno proved to be a tough challenge for Idina and the Scott brothers, they sang their way through till the end. Upon entering the newly transformed workspace, James is filled with joy. “I strive to just help kids, because I was that 10-year-old kid trying to get to the next level,” James reflects. With this new space, he’s ready to truly take his program to the next level. The effect James will have on these kids will last generations.
