Materials Required:

  • Any old glasses
  • One tumbler
  • Gold permanent vinyl
  • Transfer paper
  • Cricut machine
  • Scissors
  • Measuring tape
  • Rubbing alcohol (optional)

Step One: Measure, Clean Your Tumbler & Glasses 

Start by cleaning the tumbler and glasses with warm water and soap and then let them dry for a few minutes. You can clean the exterior of the glass with rubbing alcohol afterwards. Then, grab your measuring tape and measure the glasses and tumbler to calculate the size of your design.

Step Two: Design Shapes & Cut Them 

Using a Cricut machine and permanent gold vinyl, you can cut different shapes and styles in only a few minutes. As soon as the designs are cut, remove the excess vinyl very carefully.

Step Three: Prepare the Shapes Using Transfer Tape

Grab your transfer tape and place it on top of the design sheets. Using your scissors, cut them all one by one.

Step Four: Add the Gold Vinyl 

Transfer the gold vinyl pieces one by one to the glasses and tumbler. Make sure you use a scraper to eliminate any bubbles that may occur while transferring them onto the glass. Then remove the transfer tape and voila, your DIY tumbler and glasses are complete!

Step Five: Tips to Maintain Your Set

Now that you’ve finished transferring all of the permanent vinyl, it is important that you only use the glasses and tumbler to serve cold drinks (hot beverages will deteriorate the glue of the vinyl in the long run). Lastly, always hand wash your new glassware set.
