Add a Touch of Magic to Halloween With These Fun DIY Floating Candles

The countdown for Halloween is officially on. With October 31st quickly approaching, now is the time to turn your home into Halloween central. As much as we love no-carve pumpkins and plastic skeletons, there’s something special about these DIY floating candles. Reminiscent of classic scenes from your favourite witchcraft and wizardry series, this floating candle DIY will add a touch of magic to any Halloween celebration. Here’s how to create your own.

Supplies for making DIY floating candles

Materials Required:

  • Empty toilet paper rolls
  • Empty paper towel rolls
  • Hot glue gun
  • White paint
  • Paint brush
  • Flameless tea light candles (battery-operated)
  • Fishing line
  • Sewing needle

Instructions:

Step One: Paint your toilet paper and paper towel rolls white.

Step Two: Using the hot glue gun, create faux wax drips around the top of the roll.

Step Three: Once dry, paint the hot glue white.

Step Four: Create a bottom for your candle using white paper – trace, cut and attach with glue.

Step Five: Using a needle, thread fishing line just below where the flameless tea light candle will sit – this will support the flameless candle.

Step Six: Repeat to make multiple candles.

Step Seven: Hang from the ceiling. We used clear command hooks.
