The King of Pop-Rock and music icon Sir Elton John has listed his longtime Atlanta, Georgia high-rise condo for a whopping $4.9 million. The British musician fell in love with the unit and used it as his US base for more than 30 years. He initiated this purchase with a 2,500-square-foot duplex in the early 1990s followed by five more units which he then transformed into a sprawling 13,500-square-foot, four-bedroom, seven-bath mega unit, fit for a megastar. Located in the upscale neighbourhood of Buckhead (dubbed the “Beverly Hills of the South), the home is in a part of Atlanta that’s known for its fine dining, high-end shops and art galleries.
Let’s take a tour of Elton John’s sprawling Atlanta condo, shall we?
Elton John once described the home as the “Rolls-Royce of condos in Atlanta,” which is very fitting for the 36th floor unit. The entryway boasts elegant black tile flooring that’s a beautiful contrast to the bright white walls which are adorned with crown moulding.
Rocket (Man) Soaring Space
The soaring ceilings in the living room and formal dining room are complemented by massive floor-to-ceiling windows that provide tons of natural light. There’s also an overhead gallery space on the second floor that offers plenty of room for entertaining. If only walls could talk, right?
Primary Bedroom… in the Wind
The spacious primary bedroom is meticulously designed with stunning blonde hardwood flooring, a marquetry armoire to match and a gorgeous tray ceiling bordered by a mirror to amplify the space. There’s also a seating area, an onyx ensuite off to the side and floor-to-ceiling sliding windows which open to reveal breathtaking city views. We can only imagine what it’s like to wake up at sunrise with a view like that!
Not-So-Tiny Walk-in Closet
Only a closet of this caliber is fitting for a fashionable icon like John. Multiple rooms, wood panelling and special lighting highlight the incredible clothes he owns. There are also endless shelves to display his massive shoe collection. In the middle of the closet is a large wood island that boasts a perfect view of the balcony overlooking the city.
The main floor houses a galley-style kitchen with black marble countertops, white cabinets and chef-style gourmet stainless steel appliances. On its side, there is access to a massive pantry with ample storage. There is also an entrance to the balcony from the kitchen, which is perfect for enjoying morning coffees.
The Home’s Finer Details
Other incredible features include a fitness studio and a spa/massage room with a 360-degree view of the Atlanta skyline. There’s also a large office that connects to the primary bedroom that can serve as a gallery. And lastly, multiple seating areas in the home boast beautiful built-ins that are contrasted perfectly by the modern glass railing staircases throughout the home.
