It’s hard to believe that Santa Claus will be coming to town so soon. With the busy holiday season in full swing, it’s not too late to do something extra special for your loved ones.
Holiday bows are our go-to way to add an extra ‘wow’ factor to everything from presents to place settings. For this reason, we’ve rounded up three different ways to make an easy and perfect holiday bow. So grab a cup of hot cocoa, turn on your favourite Christmas movie and start crafting!
- Wired ribbon
- Floral wire
- Glue gun
- Tissue paper
Double-Layered Bow Instructions:
Step One: Cut three pieces of wire ribbon at three lengths: 40 inches, 20 inches and 2 inches.
Step Two: Hold the 40-inch piece of ribbon in the center and fold the sides down and across so they overlap. Leave about eight inches of fabric in the center, and flip it upside-down.
Step Three: Fold the 20-inch piece of ribbon in half so the ends meet in the middle and set it on top of the 40-inch piece.
Step Four: Gather the ribbons at the center and tie them together with floral wire.
Step Five: Fold the two-inch piece of ribbon in half horizontally and wrap it around the center of the bow so the floral ribbon is covered. Secure it with hot glue.
Tissue Paper Bow Instructions:
Step One: Cut six pieces of tissue paper at 8 inches by 4 inches.
Step Two: Layer the sheets on top of each other and accordion fold one section at a time until the entire length of tissue paper is folded together.
Step Three: Tie a piece of floral wire around the center to keep it secure.
Step Four: Fold the paper in half and shape the ends with scissors to make them curved.
Step Five: Carefully fan out the folds and separate the layers of tissue paper.
Step Six: Fluff out the bow and add it to a present!
Hand-Drawn Bow Instructions:
Step One: Wrap a present in craft paper or another type of writable wrapping paper.
Step Two: Use green and red markers to create small lines across the paper, mimicking baker’s twine. Draw one line across, and one line down. Tip: Test your markers first to make sure they won’t go through the paper.
Step Three: Where the two lines meet, draw a bow. Make it as big or small as you’d like!
