Do you have a sweet tooth and love summertime entertaining? If so, we have the perfect craft for you! This adorable handmade ice cream serving tray is an outdoor entertaining must-have and makes the perfect centrepiece for any dessert table. Follow these steps to make your own.
- Wood serving tray
- Measuring tape
- 1/2 inch spade bit
- Painters tape
- Acrylic paint
Step One: Measuring
Start off by deciding how many cones you want to hold based on the size of your wood serving tray. Using a pencil, square and measuring tape, we marked six holes of half an inch each.
Step Two: Drilling
Secondly, let’s jump into drilling our six cone holes using a half-inch spade bit. Clamp down the wood board to keep it from moving while you drill.
Step Three: Sanding
As soon as you drill all the holes, sand the interior and around the board as much as required. Wipe away any dust with a clean cloth.
Step Four: Painting
Finally, it’s time to decorate your new ice cream serving tray. We opted to decorate our tray with a single stripe. If you want to follow our stripe design, use painter’s tape and your favourite paint colour. Let it dry to touch for a couple of minutes, and remove the tape for the big reveal.
And there you have it, your very own wooden ice cream serving tray. For another fun way to wow your guests, try making this no-churn campfire s’mores ice cream from Food Network Canada. Bon appetit!
