To give this family the home of their dreams on Property Brothers: Forever Home, Jonathan and Drew had to level floors, replace the kitchen and update multiple rooms. What they got was a bright, welcoming space perfect for family gatherings for many years to come.

Shake It Off
decided to go with off-white shaker-style cabinets because they liked the traditional feel of the antique edging of the doors. The backsplash is kept classic as well with a white subway tile and limited herringbone above the stove.

Kids Corner
Kids were very much top-of-mind when it came to figuring out the design features of this family home – this fun play cubby was carved out from unused space under the stairs.

The Elements
While Susan and Troy wanted their house to feel like a comfortable space for kids, they also asked for some stylish high-end elements such as the over-island feature pendant lights ($150 each) and the top-line stainless-steel appliances ($12,000).

On the Level
One of the costliest jobs in this Property Brothers: Forever Home renovation was leveling out the main floor area, which used to be a jumble of steps up and down to a sunken living room and raised dining room.
![The Family That Sits Together Beautiful white living room with large sectional couch, framed black and white photos on the wall and a large square coffee table](https://assets.hgtv.ca/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/6-forever-home-102-white-living-room-couch.jpg)
The Family That Sits Together
Having a shared spot where the whole family could enjoy time together (but still have their own space) watching movies or playing games was important. Enter the oversized sectional couch.

Cool Play
The colour palette is quite cool but not cold with dark high-end vinyl flooring throughout, a free-floating stain-wood mantle above the original fireplace, gold and silver accents, and a pair of blue armchairs.

Clean Up Time
Susan and Troy gave Jonathan and Drew a list of the most annoying areas in their house, and the laundry room was at the top. What was once a crowded area with too many doors and not enough square footage, now functions and flows.

Slumber Party
Having a multifunctional space for the kids to play and for guests to stay was also high on the wish list. Not only did the kids’ play room get a makeover but now it also has a chic tufted day bed (with a pullout trundle bed underneath) for sleepovers.

Child’s Play
Creating a special place for each child to display their artwork was just one of many sweet design touches Jonathan and Drew added to this house to help turn it into a forever home.
