30 Dorm Rooms That Are Super Cliche and Lame

We’re going to start off strong with this cute room shared by two best friends (or one roommate with a very clear aesthetic, and a pushover…). Either way, it’s super sweet, and belies the debaucherous lifestyle of the freshmen we knew, way back when…

You’ve hit second year after a summer traveling Asia, and you’re looking for any opportunity to talk about traveling Asia…so you hang your $2 sarong over your bed and casually tell friends, “Oh that? Just a little thing I picked up in Asia…”

But little did you know, everyone else spent their summer traveling Asia, picking up $2 sarongs to hang on their walls, so they could brag about their epic travels.

Some bought red ones.

But everyone mostly bought black ones…

Next up are the faux gallery wall walls, because they’re really nothing like a gallery…these picture walls don’t even have frames…

There is some attempt at organization…

But mostly it’s just a mashup of photos…and twinkle lights!

So many twinkle lights!

Twinkle lights are the go-to for dreamy ambiance…as dreamy as a dorm room can be with your roommate snoring in the next bed and your Ramen noodles simmering on your hot pot…

But they do add a touch of romance, and hearken back to memories of travels. What is it about University and travel? Semesters are really just waiting games until you can travel again.

There’s the subtle twinkle light…

And then there’s the everything dorm room: twinkle lights, photo collage AND sarong hanging. Soak it all in…

Oh, the power of a headboard! It instantly transforms these drab dorm rooms to Duchess worthy.

We don’t know about you, but our dorm rooms never looked this plush.

And they certainly didn’t have canopies.

Here’s another triple threat: canopy bed, twinkle lights and a sarong.

There were a couple that caught our eye and we really fell for. The simplicity of this room is so calming, it’s the perfect study nook.

And who wouldn’t love a dorm room in Paris?

And this one was a cute attempt to inject some colour into the barren residency…

But mostly they’re just all bad, like this mashup.

That poster is all kinds of gorgeousness. It’s so nice, in fact, that we’ll overlook the fact it’s not in a frame…

We want to know this person…

Kudos to this student for sustaining life in a dorm room.

We kinda love this room. It’s so clearly a combination of hand-me-downs from parents and grandparents. It’s so lovingly created with reminders of home.

But at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how tacky your dorm room was, how cliche your hanging sarong was, how lame your gallery wall was, because these were the best years of your life, and everyone else is just jealous (including us…).
