About the Hosts

Building got into Mike’s blood very early on. As a kid growing up, he would watch his father work around the house and on neighbours’ homes. His father started to teach him. By the time Mike was 10 he had built a three-bedroom tree fort, and by 12 he had completed his first basement – all under the watchful eye of his father.

Working as a contractor for more than 30 years, Mike’s been helping people in trouble. People whose homes have been damaged, lives turned upside down and who have run out of options.

Mike never wanted to work in television. But while building sets on a home design show, Mike did what he does best: speak his mind.

While he ranted on the kinds of shows that could help the homeowners he dealt with every day, a studio executive listened and agreed. There was only one catch: He would produce the show only if Mike hosted. Holmes on Homes® was born, and with it, a new era of home renovation programming.

Mike’s rare ability to explain even the most complicated building methods made Holmes on Homes® a hit on HGTV Canada, and Mike an instant favourite with homeowners around the world.

With the success of this Gemini award-winning series, Mike moved onto Holmes Inspection where he revealed major repairs home inspectors missed.

Using television as a tool, Mike’s been educating homeowners for over ten years, teaching them about proper building code, what to look for in contractors and their rights as homeowners. His mission is to improve the building industry from the ground up and raise building standards across the board.

The job isn’t done until it’s done right. But it takes more than skill and experience. It takes integrity. And Mike’s giving everything he’s got in his new series, Holmes Makes It Right.

Mike Holmes Jr. (MJ) is a professional contractor, television host, public speaker, educator, guest expert and online personality. Mike Jr., started working with his father -- celebrity contractor Mike Holmes -- when he was just 14 years old on the set of Holmes on Homes. For 11+ years viewers watched Mike Jr., grow up as he helped his father on some of his most ambitious builds, including Holmes in New Orleans, Mike's Ultimate Garage, and most recently Home to Win.
