"I'm over here goo gooing about your beautiful place," swooned John and Courtney, the Instagram users behind contentandcompany when they saw this shot of photographer Nicolette Johnson's Brisbane apartment on her instagram account @swsco. We can see why. <p>From the Dhurrie rug to the art wall to the teak pieces to the braided brass candlesticks, this place is perfection. This is the place you want to plop down with a book for an afternoon of carefree reading. The couple have been collecting the amazing artwork for years. The mask was a gift from Nicolette's father, who brought it back from Papua New Guinea.

"Your style is perfection. I don't think I've ever felt so strongly about a rug in my entire life; it's completely gorgeous," gushed a Reddit user when she saw the apartment. To which Nicolette responded: "It's a vintage Dhurrie rug that I found on Gumtree (Australia's equivalent to Craigslist) for $170! The rug gods have been kind to me."

As to why her apartment is so uncluttered, Nicolette offered this advice on Reddit: "The amount of stuff we threw out/gave to friends/charity is staggering and could probably fill a whole other apartment. Culling feels pretty good though!"

For a while there, eager DIYers were painting over every natural wood surface. This apartment bucks that trend, asking people to appreciate the inherent beauty of wood; the lines in the furniture and the casual, not overly decorated touches — the tangle of plants, a dreamcatcher and the line of books. Divine! (The wishbone chair is a Hans Wegner replica.)

A nice change from the more popular colourful version is this Eames Hang-It-All in walnut — every midcentury modern lover's go to — which takes pride of place off the living room.

Let the grease splatter! This is a what a real kitchen looks like. Such a welcome antidote to those sterile, polished kitchens that look like a meal has never been prepped in them. <p>The print is of a 1961 painting called Sleeping Boy by Izabella Godlewska de Aranda and offers a casually elegant moment.</p>

Chipped melamine cabinets — who cares? When you've got style, you don't need a $100,000 kitchen.

Some people look at this photo and just see a bed, others, like Reddit user "notreallyswiss," see the people behind the interior design: That macrame hanging! That bulldog-clipped print! (It's a collection of arrowhead illustrations by Valerie Waldorf, by the way.) That macrame hanging is doing it in all the best ways. It feels right at home near the crumpled navy bedding and dark-wood stool that lends a relaxed vibe to the room. The ash-wood bed frame is Ikea. <p>(No persnickety stagers were used in the making of this shot.)</p>

Surprisingly, these gorgeous shelves were crafted from wood that got the heave-ho and were left in a parking lot — score! The DIY couple revamped them and added an antique dresser below for storage.

Time to surf Craigslist again after you hear Nicolette scooped this Pierre Vandel Aluminum &#201;tag&#232;re bookcase on Gumtree (the Australian equivalent of Craigslist) for under $100. <p>The horse shoes are keepsakes from Nicolette's horse-riding days.</p>
