How to Make Tiffany Pratt’s Go-To DIY Hostess Gift: A Sweet Candy Box Wreath

How to Make Tiffany Pratt’s Go-To DIY Hostess Gift: A Sweet Candy Box Wreath

There is truly nothing that I love more than a box of chocolates. There is something so romantic and seasonally special about the stunning boxes that are beautifully packaged and passed out through the season. Often, I keep the boxes long after the chocolate is gone, and collect and hoard vintage chocolate tins from garage sales. Because I’m so inspired by the simplistic and graphic shapes of these gift boxes, I wanted to make something special with them, instead of recycle them. Enter: the candy box wreath! You can even make them with full boxes of chocolate and give it as the best hostess gift ever!

Materials for Making a DIY Candy Box Wreath: a square wire wreath frame, five to seven boxes of chocolates in a variety of sizes and colours, multi-coloured yarn, scissors, a hot glue gun and grosgrain ribbon.

Step One: Wrapping Your Wire Frame

Give your wire wreath frame a good wrap with whatever coloured yarn that you would like. I used colourful variegated yarn, but you can use what you have. I used a square shape wreath to work well with the square and rectangular shapes of the chocolate boxes – but you can give a circular wreath frame a try if that is what you have. Once you have wrapped the frame to give your boxes a base to be glued on – its time for the chocolate!

Step Two: Plan the Layout of Your Candy Boxes and Glue Them

Choosing a cool variety of colours and shapes for the chocolate boxes is what makes this so special. The beautiful packaging of each box is what makes it fancy – but the colours and where you place them is what is so interesting. Play around with that to find the placement and combo that is the most exciting. Once you like your combination, it is time to hot glue them into place. These boxes can be empty if you are using this wreath for decoration, but this is also such a stellar hostess gift. Imagine getting a beautiful festive wreath filled with chocolate – simply the best!

Step Three: Tie a Big, Beautiful Bow on Your Wreath

Now is the time to but the big bow on your masterpiece! I found a big thick red grosgrain ribbon that I triple tied. You can make your bow as big or as small as you would like, the idea is that it feels special and festive – and nothing screams those sentiments more than a big red bow!

Although this wreath is unconventional and simple-it packs an artistic punch with a twist of fun that everyone will love! I also love the concept of reusing and celebrating something that we might simply recycle. Let’s put those pretty packaging designs on display and enjoy those stunning confectionery colours during the festive season. It’s a delicious idea!
