Scott and Sabrina Get Crafty With Their Personal Spaces

A big, beautiful open space was the perfect canvas for Sabrina’s new room. Thankfully a last-minute structural call on Scott’s part meant a couple of extra windows to brighten up the area. Meanwhile the lighter colour palate makes this a pretty and feminine room — one that’s meant to craft in for days.

The only dark finishes here can be found on the oversized crafting table; otherwise hues of pink are paired with gold accents to really make the space pop. The dual hanging chandeliers give the room some added elegance, and the sweeping drapes polish off the look.

The oversized table isn’t just perfect for gift-wrapping and other such crafty things; it’s a brilliant storage solution thanks to the built-in nooks. By storing everything underneath Sabrina has tons more actual counter space on which to work. Having loads of storage in the custom cabinets adjacent to the table doesn’t hurt either.

Scott may not have realized that Sabrina made their current living room’s throw pillows, but she’s been known to dig into some sewing projects every once in a while too. Having a designated space makes it easier to get to them; now she doesn’t have to worry about hauling the sewing machine out of storage every time she wants to use it.

Thanks to genius design elements like this ribbon spindle, there’s a place for everything and everything is in its place. We love that even the Mason jar lids match the room with their pretty gold finish.

As a teacher, Sabrina still needs ample space to spread out and do her marking and planning. That’s where this beautiful desk comes into play. While one side of the room is dedicated to her crafts, this side is all about her professional duties.

A solid colour desk might have worked against the room and made the two areas feel more closed off. But by using a more modern, glass desk instead the room keeps its easy flow, making this a truly fun-but-functional work space.

Sometimes you just want to have a seat and admire how pretty your room turned out. That’s where this custom sitting area (complete with “poodle” chairs, as Scott called them) comes into play. Finishing accents like these gold knickknacks tie it all together.

What’s a craft room without some crafty accents? Sabrina loves pink, but rather than going all-out with the colour in the room, she kept the bursts of hot pink to a minimum with interesting finishes — like these vases. The complimentary floral arrangement and pastel picture give the room a little more texture and depth.

When you do what Scott does for a living, you’re going to want to go all-out for your workshop. Scott designed his to look like a smaller addition to the main house, making it a cute little space inside and out.

High ceilings and insulated walls make the interior of the workshop completely functional and spacious year-round. There’s lots of room to haul in bigger projects, or to just host a bunch of guys for the next big game.

This work bench is large enough to actually work on, but also features bar seating so that several guys can hang out here at once. Meanwhile custom storage solutions within the actual bench itself allows Scott plenty of room for all his tools.

Because not all tools fit into neat and tidy drawers, the wall allows for customizable cabinetry and storage, too. Now Scott has a chance to show off some of his larger tools — Tim the Toolman Taylor would certainly be jealous.

Of course all work and no play isn’t exactly Scott’s mantra. A sporting area on the opposite side of the workshop is the perfect spot to store all of Scott’s outdoor equipment and fishing gear.

With everything mounted and off the floor Scott has lots of extra space for things like this hot rod that he borrowed from a friend. If this doesn’t impress the guys we don’t know what will.

Because this room is just as much a space for Scott to work on his projects as it is for him to hang out with his buddies, he had to furnish it with a bar area. Now the bros can have some brews while they watch TV, or toast to Scott’s brand new home and brilliant workshop.
