Jimmy says:

Jimmy enjoyed watching the show and blogging last night. Jimmy had a fun time. Jimmy really liked Sarah's kitchen. Jimmy isn't sure about the microwave placement though. Jimmy also didn't like how the Kenmore appliances were focused on so much. Jimmy felt like he was watching Extreme Makeover Home Edition. Jimmy loved the layout though. Jimmy says good job Sarah and Tommy.

Jimmy wants to apologize to HGTV for some of the comments that Jimmy made during the blog last night. Jimmy should have known better. Jimmy was coersed by Julie or Julia to make such silly comments. Jimmy won't let it happen again.

Jimmy hopes everyone has themselves a wonderful day. Jimmy is so excited about Easter coming this weekend. Jimmy likes celebrating the Easter bunny's birthday. Jimmy eats chocolate to celebrate.

krissyo says:

loved the kitchen, where would you get cabinets sprayed? anyone? Also noticed the flash of the town just prior to looking for vintage lighting was Collingwood. One more question for readers, how do you get to the shopping guide? Great job Sarah and Tommy!

Wednesday, 31 March 2010 11:59 AM EST

Ursula says:

Hi Sarah and Tommy. Great job on the kitchen, but I have to agree with Tommy on this one--a different shade of green would have been my choice! You already have yellow in the bathroom. The ocher would have been better in the living room--more neutral.

Can't wait to see how the rest of the story goes...

Wednesday, 31 March 2010 12:06 PM EST

Jimmy says:

Jimmy says hi to krissyo! Jimmy can get to the shopping guide by clicking the link below the pictures above. Jimmy checked it out and couldn't find where the cabinets got sprayed. Jimmy remembered seeing it in a past episode shopping guide though. Jimmy thinks krissyo should check them out.

Kate Ottawa says:

I love this kitchen and can't get over how custom they make Ikea cabinets look. Love the appliances with the retro dials (checked it out $5,900 for the fridge). I love the island, the low counters under the windows....everything. My favourite kitchen you've ever done S&T.

The series is making me nervous about improvements in our house. If Sarah has problems with workers making errors then what will we have to deal with!

Wednesday, 31 March 2010 18:17 PM EST

Sandra says:

Hi,
Krissyo Sarah has always used Benjamin Furniture Refinishing in Toronto. Kate don't be nervous, do your homework and check referrals and check the workmanship and don't go for the lowest quote or the one who seems convenient for your antiC***ted reno and then you have it beat 90% of the time.(oh and it doesn't hurt to use someone that you know, knows them and will vouch for their workmanship as well.)

I love that the original floors were kept and refinished and the low window was also kept and worked around with lowering the cabinets. I wish we could expand the pictures with larger versions though.

Diane says:

I have a century home similar to this and have been trying forever to find a window company to make curved-top windows for my home. I caught a glimpse of your windows and would really appreciate the name of the window company you used.
I had ordered windows in early november, finally arrived early february only to have been wrongly measured (thankfully because they were square top) and am hoping to get this project completed asap. Many of my windows are original and in dire need of replacement. thankyou! Can't wait to hear back from you!!!!

Wednesday, 31 March 2010 21:22 PM EST

Jimmy says:

Jimmy says hi to Diane! Jimmy suggests that Diane check out the shopping guide. Jimmy knows that Sarah provides window manufacturer and installer names. Jimmy likes Marvin windows though. But thats just Jimmy.

Thursday, 01 April 2010 08:08 AM EST

Sandra says:

Diane
Interesting point our energy auditor just told us is that he found that improving older wooden windows and good storms actually beat out performance of many new windows! It's very controversial I know but most people get rid of the old windows because they think of energy loss so you may want to pocket your cash and check into good wood storms instead.
There are local companies that will do the curved storms so check around as my friend had them made recently and they look original to the house.
Good luck!

Kate Ottawa says:

Hi Sandra. I to would like to see bigger pictures and then found some on Facebook...Fans of Sarahs House

Friday, 02 April 2010 10:10 AM EST

Sandra says:

Well thank you kindly Kate, I will try and check it out.
My laptop is quite small so that doesn't help.

Have a great day!

Friday, 02 April 2010 10:32 AM EST

Rochelle says:

Oh I so agree with Jimmy, I thought I was watching Extreme Makeover Home Edition what with the Sears product placement.
Gorgeous kitchen, though!!!! I love 99.9% of what Sarah does, I wish she could come and help me!!

Friday, 02 April 2010 11:31 AM EST

krissyo says:

thanks Sandra for the name of the refinisher. This is great getting input from other fans, big help. Can't wait to see the master bedroom and landscaping. I know this farm is close to where I live but can't pin point it. Any help would be appreciated. Want to see it! Have a great Easter everyone and enjoy the lovely weather!

Friday, 02 April 2010 14:55 PM EST

Jamie says:

Love the new series. Please Jimmy, your comments with your name used so much takes away from your import. Keep it simple- it's not about you. Can't wait for the next room.

Sunday, 04 April 2010 19:09 PM EST

Kate Ottawa says:

We just got back from a weekend in Sutton with family along with a stop over in downtown Toronto. The entire drive around the rural area was spent on the lookout for "the Farm". No luck. I have a feeling it's closer to Collingwood.

Monday, 05 April 2010 08:34 AM EST

Jimmy says:

Jimmy says hi to Jamie! Jimmy wonders what you mean about this not being about Jimmy? Jimmy knows this isn't about Jimmy. Jimmy is aware that this is about Sarah and her lovely property makeovers. Jimmy loves Sarah's shows. Jimmy watched Sarah's cottage this weeeknd. Jimmy was so excited to see it on TV again. Jimmy also ate a lot of his easter chocolate while watching the marathon. Jimmy felt awful afterwards. Jimmy had to go to bed very early. Jimmy feels better now. Jimmy wanted Jamie to know that.

Monday, 05 April 2010 09:10 AM EST

Julie says:

Lovely kitchen! Easily my favourite of all from the Sarah's House series.

Monday, 05 April 2010 13:53 PM EST

Julie says:

Absolutely lovely kitchen

Monday, 05 April 2010 13:54 PM EST

Carley says:

I would love to see the house as well. I think it may be in Creemore. I was reading her articles from the Globe & Mail and noticed that the last article on the farm was tagged "Creemore". Also, looking at the shopping guide there are a few purchases from Creemore shops.

Monday, 05 April 2010 20:12 PM EST

Kelly says:

Does anyone know if the kitchen cabinets were solid wood or veneer?

Monday, 05 April 2010 23:00 PM EST

Katie says:

Does anyone know the pattern name and supplier of the kitchen drape fabric? I looked in the shopping guide and it lists the store/supplier, but not the fabric details. If anyone could help????

Tuesday, 06 April 2010 00:05 AM EST

Jimmy says:

Jimmy says hi to Kelly! Jimmy knows that the cabinets were from Ikea and the door style is Liljestad (Jimmy's spelling may be a bit off). Jimmy knows that the doors are made with solid wood frames and veneered plywood panels (middle section). Jimmy knows that the cabinet boxes are made from particleboard. Jimmy also knows that for the money, Ikea cabinets can't be beat. Jimmy knows that they have all the features of higher priced cabinets but with somewhat limited sizing and door styles. Jimmy also knows that there are several companies out there that will either paint the doors like what Sarah had done or will make doors in whatever style Kelly wants to fit on to the cabinet boxes. Jimmy is going to do his kitchen that way if Jimmy can ever get out of his apartment and into a house. Jimmy is hopeful that this will happen within the next 25 years. Jimmy already has the style of cabinets picked out but Jimmy isn't telling anyone just yet. Jimmy wants it to be a secret.

Tuesday, 06 April 2010 09:34 AM EST

Laura says:

Loved all of it. In the middle of doing my kitchen some really good ideas. Thanks Sarah and Tommy.

Tuesday, 06 April 2010 09:42 AM EST

Sandra says:

Sarah quoted $360 for 5 brackets and I can't seem to find similair ones in good condition for under $150.00 so if anyone finds two just like the ones she use let me know!

I love the kitchen absolutely and entirely and those pendants over the island are incredible!

Tuesday, 06 April 2010 13:43 PM EST

dorothy says:

someone asked where the farmhouse is...i read on the "weddingbells" forum it's in creemore, 90 minutes nw of toronto (about 1/2way between barrie and wasaga beach/collingwood but much more south of these areas)...
just saw the next ep. of the dining room and LOVED it...that fabric wallpaper and drapery fabric were both fantastic...and the 12 ft. walnut table with wicker chairs was stunning...i love sarah and tommy...they are a great pair....the show is a huge highlight for me every week...
is the style of this farm house "carpenter gothic" or "century gothic"?...i wonder what year it was built??...i'm guessing 1880's???...it's a very typical ontario red brick farmhouse...loved the door they traded in, in the din. rm episode from today...

Tuesday, 06 April 2010 22:16 PM EST

Amanda says:

Absolutely gorgeous kitchen. Sarah has done an amazing job so far! I think Sarah should come down under to Brisbane, Australia and find a really great Queenslander to do up, I would love to see that. Well done, great show.

Wednesday, 07 April 2010 01:23 AM EST

John BH says:

In response to Jimmy's last post, the Ikea cabinets used were Tidaholm oak, not Liljestad.

Wednesday, 07 April 2010 20:11 PM EST

Jimmy says:

Jimmy says hi to John BH! Jimmy must apologize. Jimmy has used both recently in some projects and got confused. Jimmy can't believe he did that. Jimmy should have known better.

Jimmy would like to comment about the lovely dining room but for some reason Jimmy doesn't have the option of commenting. Jimmy wanted to say that Jimmy likes the dining room. Jimmy would rather have a meal in Sarah's dining room than in the one that Peter Falico did on Home to Flip. Jimmy likes the fabric wallpaper, but Jimmy thinks it will be a pain in the bum to get the vacuum on the wall that high. Jimmy wonders if Sarah has a central vacuum because lifting a regular canister vacuum will really hurt Sarah's back.

Jimmy likes Creemore. Jimmy was there once and visited the lovely brewery. Jimmy thinks they make delicious beer there.

Kim says:

SANDRA..re:the brackets
You cannot find them cheap because you are not Sarah. Designers have well established relationships with business owners. Good prices from retailers ensure the business owner guaranteed business from designers like Sarah until Sarah basically retires. You'll never find a deal like Sarah unfortunately. Case in point..I always helped my Aunt with her antique/restoration business at Fleas when I was a teen, before the boom of the TV designer. Well years passed and my kids got big enough for me to help again. I saw something I'll never forget. A few years ago, our "booth" was next to a dealer with 4 dining chairs. One of the armrests were broken and he wouldn't sell them for less than 500.00 .One woman offered him 325 and he said he was insulted. Twenty minutes later Samantha Pynn with photographer in tow, purchased the set for 350.
Long story short, Designers have privledges the rest of us do not. Trade only fabric, discounts on tile and fixtures. Scour online for your deals.

@SandraSoul on Twitter says:

Love the shots of yellow in Sarah's country kitchen, I personally like apple green or turquoise as a kitchen accent colour, BUT now that I've seen Sarah's version of a yellow kitchen, I'm starting to rethink my choices when it comes time to re-do my own kitchen, and yes, I will be using IKEA cabinets too, and save money by installing them myself (well, me and Hubby, that is!) I wonder why Sarah never uses the IKEA ADEL doors, they're Shaker and come painted white. Can't wait to see what's up for next week !! Hurry up Tuesday!!

Friday, 09 April 2010 00:10 AM EST

Mary Anne says:

I really like all the light fixtures that have been used so far, so unigue. As always Sarah and her team use the most interesting resources. Thanks Sarah

Friday, 09 April 2010 12:49 PM EST

Danielle says:

what colour is on the walls in the kitchen?

Saturday, 10 April 2010 14:15 PM EST

Sandra says:

Kim,
That is such an interesting story about the chairs and I guess in all fairness to the general public the prices mentioned should not be their "deal" price but what the regular price is.
Thanks for the feedback!

Saturday, 10 April 2010 14:18 PM EST

Michelle says:

The house is east of local fair grounds road not fair from Creemore I believe it is on the 18/19 SR. Very beautiful from the outside and can see its just as nice inside too.

Sunday, 11 April 2010 22:13 PM EST

Maureen says:

This has always been and always will be my favorite show on design television - Sarah, you are the best and Tommy slays me. I kill myself laughing at his quick uptakes and the look on Sarah's face as she tries not to laugh - many thanks to the camera crew for catching these. Other than the cottage, this is my favorite makeover. I am a little concerned about the curtains over the gas range though. Why not something a bit more safe? Maybe I just can't tell how far away they are... PS Tell Tommy that the fabric you both chose to have paper laminated onto is so-o-o-o-o-o gorgeous and who knew taxidermy could be fashionable???

tinybeachbum says:

Jimmy is so annoying...but he already knows that.

Tuesday, 13 April 2010 19:04 PM EST

Jennifer Millarville Alberta says:

This kitchen is a bit too white for me. I did like the farmhouse apron sink... though no one else seems to have noticed it. Much more comfortable to work at, and the sink is where we spend the most time in the kitchen.

Wednesday, 14 April 2010 04:14 AM EST

krissyo says:

Thanks Michelle, I knew it ws around here somewhere. Recognized the scenery right away, but could not pinoint where.

Wednesday, 14 April 2010 11:51 AM EST

bunny's girl says:

love the kitchen - warm and sunny and just looks like 'home' - want to know how to get the sink cabinet with drawers not doors from IKEA - nothing that I can find will match up.....thx

Thursday, 15 April 2010 10:53 AM EST

Sandra says:

Hello to Bunny's Girl,
The cabinet under the sink would have been custom made probably by one of th contractors or is an existing sink base cabinet for an apron front sink that has been modified with one big drawer added to it. As you may notice it is a bead board door front and not the same as the shaker doors on the rest of the kitchen. You can show it to any good carpenter and he should be able to do the same for you.
Hope that saves you time looking all over for something to buy retail that does not exist.

Thursday, 15 April 2010 13:48 PM EST

sarah_ch says:

I think the dishwasher should have been placed on the other side of the sink. The dishwasher door and over door share the same place (I guess this would be fine in a one-cook kitchen, though). I also find the range looks funny in the corner of such a large kitchen.

Great job with customizing Ikea cabinets.

Sunday, 18 April 2010 14:12 PM EST

Kim says:

Where oh where did the fern fabric come from?

Friday, 23 April 2010 22:42 PM EST

Sandra says:

Kim,
It says "Telio" in the shopping guide at the top of the page beneath the pictures.

Saturday, 24 April 2010 16:30 PM EST

Cam says:

I absolutely love this kitchen. Just started watching Sarah but can hardly wait to see more of her work! Also, did she have a boy or girl?? HA!!

Saturday, 24 April 2010 21:29 PM EST

Karen says:

Can someone tell me more about the counter top material, durability, and price? It looks like silestone, but I saw in the buying guide that it came from IKEA. I had no idea IKEA could do an Ogee cut. Or did Sarah send that out to be cut? Interested b/c it looks expensive and am getting ready to redo an old farmhouse kitchen now.

Sunday, 25 April 2010 08:31 AM EST

Webisodes & Videos of Past Seasons says:

I just started watching Sarah's House and love it and would also enjoy watching her webisodes and the Videos of prior seasons but when I click on them I always get the message that "the selected video is not currently available". Does anyone know if they are planning on making these available for web viewing?

Sunday, 25 April 2010 12:12 PM EST

Lee says:

Enjoyed this episode. I am wondering if anyone can tell me the brand of the beautiful shirt/blouse Sarah was wearing at the end of the kitchen episode when she was making final comments. She was out in a green field wearing a white, cotton or fine linen shirt with long billowy sleeves. The shirt had a lotus or lily flower print in grey / pink / lemon colours.
Thanks for any help!

Monday, 26 April 2010 07:02 AM EST

Cyan says:

I would like to know where Sarah got the white on gray polka dot fabric for the kitchen. I've found only smaller, denser polka dotted fabric. Love the house!
Best regards.

Monday, 26 April 2010 15:03 PM EST

Meredith says:

I love the drapes/shades in the kitchen - I wish the shoppig guide was more specific about the fabric. It just lists the website telio.com, but not the brand name or fabric name. Oh well, it's probably $150 a yard anyway!

Tuesday, 27 April 2010 12:57 PM EST

AHendon says:

Hi all! I looked at the shopping guide for the kitchen colors, which I love, however Para paints' website is being redone and Sara's Lowe's paint line isn't available in Kentucky (hopefully thats a 'not yet'). Anyways does anyone know a way I can get the color formulas at least for the Cashmere on the walls and the Rattan yellow so I can use it down here? Thanks!

Wednesday, 28 April 2010 09:05 AM EST

Sandra says:

Hi Karen,

It seems Sarah pretty much uses quartz solid surfacing in kitchens now.
Silestone, Hanstone, Cesarstone etc are all quartz surface and you can find them at any big box store like Rona etc. as well as Ikea. You do not buy the counters and install them yourself like, it is ordered and installed by the company you order from due to the complicated nature of installing it and other real stone counters.
Hope this helps ya!

Thursday, 29 April 2010 12:23 PM EST

Ron Wayne Horner says:

I like how the kitchen looks and appears to function. There is only one thing that Sarah did not explain, and that is the gas stove. I do Love the show.

Thursday, 29 April 2010 21:30 PM EST

Jennifer says:

Love the show and the relationship between Sarah and Tommy, you can tell that they really respect and appreciate each others opinions. They also crack me up each week. I noticed some art work in Sarah's office and I believe that some work by the same artist was used in the dining room at the farm house. Could I ask who the artist is? Might this be Sarah's own work.

Tuesday, 04 May 2010 00:37 AM EST

Shelia M. says:

I missed the kitchen makeover and would like to see pictures and see the show. I have tried to review on this website but nothing will come up. Is there something wrong with the website?

Monday, 10 May 2010 15:24 PM EST

HGTV says:

Hi Sheila M.
The kitchen photos are in the gallery above, and the episode can be viewed if you click Videos above. All the episodes and webisodes are available on the Video page, if you're a resident of Canada.

Tuesday, 11 May 2010 09:49 AM EST

Sharla says:

I love you style and how you have decorated the farm kitchen, I have been trying to locate the oilcloth you have on the bar stools. Would you please give me more information on that, thank you

Saturday, 15 May 2010 16:04 PM EST

Debbie says:

Interesting - many people Love the drapery fabric in the kitchen and can not find it. I have looked everywhere?!? I tried the Telio webiste but it does not show inventory and when I called got a "we only deal with designers" remark. Well - thanks - I can get a desinger to order but I need a product name for goodness sakes.

Sunday, 16 May 2010 09:12 AM EST

Amy says:

I too am in love with this kitchen drapery. Would HGTV please just post the name of it already????? I have also contacted Telio by e-mail and have gotten a no reply. Frustrating!!! Love this kitchen it is so fabulous!! Sarah and Tommy are just a delight!

Monday, 17 May 2010 13:51 PM EST

Mary says:

I love this kitchen. I am recreating it in my own way in my 1959 Ranch home. Started 2 days ago. My budget is 2000. Could be interesting. It is just uplifting to imagine waking up in the dead of a Minnesota winter, in that kitchen. Love it. Thanks Sarah and Tommy.

Monday, 24 May 2010 19:16 PM EST

Diane says:

Well. I am not a resident of Canada- but I STILL want to watch the videos, HGTV!

Monday, 31 May 2010 14:26 PM EST

Kristen says:

Absolutely LOVE the kitchen. It is my dream kitchen. Any chance I could hire Sarah to recreate it?? :p Anyone know what they spend on the kitchen?

Thursday, 10 June 2010 21:43 PM EST

Heidi says:

Absolutely loved the kitchen drapery also. Called Telio and they said they might be able to identify it if I could send a picture. Looked at the kitchen pictures on the website and no picture does justice to the fabric. Can anyone help identify it, PLEASE?????

Friday, 11 June 2010 14:50 PM EST

dani says:

Heidi,
Did you get a response to your question. I too have been trying to find out. could you let me know if you nail it down.

Thanks.

Monday, 14 June 2010 14:22 PM EST

Heidi says:

Dani,
No I didn't get a response. I even wrote to Sarah's website asking them to identify the fabric with no response at all so far. Hoping they will come through with identifying the kitchen fabric.

I too have scoured the internet to figure out the name of the kitchen window fabric with no prevail. I'm sooooo frustrated but still determined to find it!

Monday, 12 July 2010 03:25 AM EST

Alicia, HGTV says:

Hi everyone,
Unfortunately, we post all the info we get from the production company so we have no info on the kitchen drapery fabric. These are also the only photos we have.

Good luck, and if someone does find out, I hope they post it!

Monday, 12 July 2010 09:45 AM EST

Emily says:

Hello. I love the shirt Sarah was wearing @ the end of the Farm House Kitchen show. She is standing outside, perhaps in a green field. Does anyone know the brand name of that shirt & where she got it?
Thank you!

Monday, 12 July 2010 16:55 PM EST

Bonnie says:

I just can't get enough of Sarah and Tommy. Sarah's house has become my favorite show on HGTV (please no more House Hunters)!!! I love this kitchen. I am trying to duplicate the vintage corbels. I can't get through to the number on the shopping list.
