1 piece 3/16" Plexiglas (7" x 7")
1 touch light (5" diameter)
1 sheet of vellum (letter size)
Cut the Plexiglas to size using a straight edge (a metal ruler is preferred). First measure and mark your piece then lightly score along your ruler using consecutively harder strokes with a sharp knife. Flip your piece over and score along the same line. Wearing protective eyewear and gloves, snap the piece along the line using a table edge.
Choose the colour of vellum that you wish to use (a piece of thin white copy paper can be used as an alternative). Choose an silhouette pattern that you wish to print or photocopy onto your paper (use appropriate paper for your printing transfer). Size your image to fit onto the 7" square Plexiglas.
After printing, lightly spray the paper on the back of your image with adhesive. Adhere one side of the Plexiglas to the back of your image. Make sure your image is properly aligned because the paper will be difficult to remove if you make a mistake.
Using a knife, cut the excess paper off of the Plexiglas using its edges as guides.
(This step can only be done once. You may want to read and practice the motions before using glue.) Lay the the Plexiglas square on a table, paper side down. Put a small drop of hot glue in the middle of the square and. Turn over the light and glue the middle of the rounded lens to the Plexglas. If there is a hole on the back of the light, make sure it is properly aligned with your image for hanging before you stick anything together. Hold for about 15 seconds keeping the back of the light parallel with the surface of the table.
Hang on the wall using a single small finishing nail or adhesive fastener. Simply push to light. Play with multiple lights and different configurations for a variety of effects.
