
Materials:
- side tables
- six 1 ½” (3.81 cm) corner braces (a.k.a. L-brackets)
- 24 screws (for corner braces on table)
- eight 2” (5.08 cm) corner braces (a.k.a. L-brackets)
- wall anchors
- 32 Screws (for wall anchors)
- MDF (medium density fiberboard) – 5/8” (1.59 cm) thick, cut to the length of the inside edge of your
- side table – you’ll need one for each table “shelf”
- decorative paper (to cover side and top edge of MDF piece)
- decoupage glue
- table saw, cordless drill, screw driver, miter box and saw, foam paint brush, pencil or pen, tape measure, hot glue gun, hot glue sticks, brayer (or bone folder or rolling pin), sanding block
Directions:
- With a table saw, cut the tables in half (along the length of the tables).
- Sand the cut edges to remove any roughness.
- Sand the cut edges to remove any roughness.
- Apply hot glue to the bottom of the upper shelves’ feet. Position the upper shelves feet on top of the bottom shelf. Let the hot glue dry. This acts as a temporary hold until the corner braces are in place.
- Using a drill or screwdriver, secure the legs into place using the corner braces and screws.
- Continue to stack the shelves until all four pieces are together, one on top of the other.
- Trim the decorative paper to be the same size as the front side and top edges of the MDF pieces.
HOT TIP: Pre-fab decorative trim can be used instead of MDF.
- Evenly apply decoupage glue to the front side and top edges of the MDF pieces. Press the decorative paper pieces onto the MDF.
- Roll the brayer over the decorative paper to ensure a smooth surface.
- Attach the decorative trim pieces along the inside edges of the shelves using hot glue.
- Attach the flat, cut side of the “shelves” to the wall using 2” (5.08 cm) corner braces, wall anchors, and screws.
