ABOUT

Homeowner Gloria Guy

Gloria is a feisty 68 year old, 4' 11"' powerhouse. She was born and bred in New Orleans. She is a devout Baptist, mother of five (two are dead), with fifteen grandchildren.

In 1977 Gloria and her husband Earl bought their first home 1720 Tennessee Street. It was a significant achievement to own her first tract of land. The house was one story but fairly large.

Earl was a drinking man and died in 1982 at the age of 42. This left Gloria to raise five small children alone. She makes ends meet as a baker and cook, working in the Catholic school system.

Her house at 1720 Tennessee St was the heart of the community. Everyone ate at Gloria's home, and they all call her Mama to this day. She became famous for her weekend suppers where she would feed up to a thousand people.

Now, after three years, she's finally going home.
