Framing pictures and prints can get expensive. Save a few pennies and do-it-yourself. Follow the step-by-step project plan below and add a little life to your walls with the photographs of those you love.
WHAT YOU NEED
- ½” sheet of MDF measuring 18” x 18”
- 1 Inch pine moulding
- Wood-filler
- Primer and paint
- Screws
- Picture wire for hanging
INSTRUCTIONS
- Cut pine moulding to the following lengths:
- 2 pcs. at 18”
- 2 pcs. at 14”
- 2 pcs. at 12”
- 2 pcs. at 8”
- Glue and clamp the two pieces of 18” pine moulding and the two pieces of 14” pine moulding to the surface of the MDF – framing it. (Position the 18” pieces on the top and the 14” pieces on the sides).
- Centre the two pieces of 12” pine moulding and the two pieces of 8” pine moulding on to the MDF. Then glue and clamp the moulding in place (Position the 12” pieces on the top and the 8” pieces on the sides).
- Prime and paint each frame.
- Glue down your choice of prints in the centre of the frame and attach mounting hardware.
