I keep hearing people say how lifelike the newest generation of silk flowers is and how it’s perfectly acceptable to display good quality fakes instead of making weekly visits to the florist. I’ve heard this from design professionals and seen real life silk flowers in people’s homes (you know they’re faux when you see the exact same blooms every time you visit).
The flowers above are from the much-lauded Real Touch/Floramatique line and apparently look and feel exactly like the real thing. Brides all over the web seem to love them for bouquets and centrepieces but I have to say that while I’m okay with well maintained and often dusted silk arrangements at home, I think fake flowers at a wedding are tacky and can’t be much cheaper than the real deal. Plus, I don’t understand the need to keep them forever.
What do you think? Are silk flowers okay to display at home? What about weddings?
