Celebrate the homemade (or what looks like homemade) with a slightly old-fashioned feeling this season.
This look is one of the most traditional holiday themes that I can think of, and I like to call it Country Craft. Imagine fresh baked cookies in a big farm kitchen with piles of snow outside and little kids peering out the window. Now, love the look but don’t have live in a big country house? Not to worry; decorating crafty-style will make it so.
I paired pops of festive red with off-whites, wood and tarnished silver to make it complete. Country Craft is perfect for families because hints of whimsy are integral: our little bears from HBC are completely at home here and make great stocking-stuffers or tree ornaments. I also love the carved heart-shaped ornament and “JOY” blocks. While some of these elements can be homemade (crackers for instance are fun to make and can be personalized to each guest), I found everything in store and ready to go. So, for all those who want a real casual, comfy feeling this year: go for it! You can’t go wrong!
For those in the Toronto area, get your craft-on at the One of A Kind Show this weekend.
