A few weeks ago I posed a Question of the Week asking for your burning HGTV programming questions. We get a good amount of your questions here on the blog, and we're not always ready to answer them. So I thought -- why not do right by you guys? I'll pay a little visit to programming and open up the lines of communication.
Michelle Kosoy, acting Director of Original Content for Programming, was more than happy to have me invade her office, armed with your questions and a Flip camera in hand. And so I give you Part One of two; video nuggets shedding some light on how we do things around here.
In this installment, Michelle answers the following questions:
- Why are so many shows filmed in Toronto/Ontario?
- Will there be a new season of Take it Outside with Kelly Deck?
- How accessible is Sarah Richardson and other hosts?
- Why do some popular shows like Design Inc. go off the air?
- What is the typical lifespan of a show?
Next week, Part Two: Are we moving away from straight-up design shows? What's the deal with the "G" in HGTV - as in, gardening programs? What else is coming up? Don't miss it!
If you have other question, I encourage you to leave them below. I'm more than happy to pay Michelle a visit on a by-weekly basis to keep you guys in the loop of what's going on. In addition, CJ, my foodnetwork.ca counterpart, and I, have began engaging Karen Gelbart, our SVP of Lifestyle Content in similar conversations. Karen also has some very insightful nuggets to offer, so look for more revelations to come, here on Style Sheet!
