The launch of Style at Home’s Décor line at Trump Tower Hotel in Toronto
I like a bed that’s like a great lover — so enticing it’s hard to pull yourself away. That was my thought while fondling Style at Home’s decor line unveiled last week at the new Trump Tower.

Tallulah bedding
The pretty collection of mostly bedding staples is such that even non-designers (ahem, moi) could easily throw a bed vignette together. A designer trick, I’m told, is to layer two duvets, so that the bed looks excessively puffy like it’s just returned from a Botox session.

Marieve bedding
In a gorgeous plummy-grey Trump suite high above Toronto, a bed with a black tufted headboard would have read masculine to the max if not for the feminine purples in the floral artwork, crystal lamps — and Style at Home’s zippy Tallulah bedding, of course.
“The set is inspired by our current obsession with ikat patterns, but reinterprets it in a more contemporary way,” says Erin McLaughlin, Style at Home editor-in-chief, and the line’s designer.

Marieve bedding and throw
Contemporary really is the way to go with ikat, because like batik, too much of it can quickly feel like you’re living in a commune.
Style’s other bedding, Marieve, is also mellow. “The set has gorgeous embroidery in a metallic thread,” says Erin. “I worked very hard to find the right colour that would work with both gold and silver.”

Complementing the boudoir’s sheets, shams and duvets, which are under $150, are also cozy knit throws in fall colours, $60, and two sizes of cotton toss cushions, $35 to $40. My fave is the one with the embroidered dots, but I’m dotty that way. (All pieces can be purchased online.)

Trump’s tricked-out marble bathroom was also decked with Style’s towel collection: made of Egyptian cotton, and in colours such as grey, lilac and taupe to unify it with the rest of the collection.

Finally, if you’re after an inexpensive kitchen uplift, check out the ceramic dishware, simple in wintry white.
