Show Makeover: An Neglected Income Suite Gets a Fab Facelift

Kitchen before and after.

I can't get enough of Income Property this season and not just because host Scott is so darn cute! You see, I've got houses on the brain. My family is quickly out-growing our lovely but tiny stacked townhouse and the inevitable move to a larger, but also much more expensive, house is looming. Because I am determined (stubbornly so, some might say) to stay in downtown Toronto I know that finding a home with an income suite in it might be the best option for us when we finally make our move.

The problem though, is I find that most income suites within family homes are rather, how do I say it tactfully? Hideous? Yes, that's it. Hideous. Enter Scott. I love how he always takes a space and without breaking the bank turns it into a lovely, liveable, even desireable home for the renters. And that is just what he has helped home-owners Julie and Andy do here with their existing basement unit. Not only were they able to turn this lackluster space into a charming and comfortable bachelor apartment, but they did it all with the environment in mind. It's so pretty you'd never guess that it is filled with environmentally-responsible elements too!
