Painted Flower VaseIt’s amazing how much extra time you seem to get with that additional day tacked onto a long weekend.

If you're like me, you too like to spend the day freshening up your home; it's a perfect opportunity to tackle some quick and easy paint fixes and touch-ups around the house too.

This recent Farrow & Ball newsletter has great colours and projects to get you started. From the country-style birdhouse with robin’s egg blue paint to fresh yellow pastels on a trio of planters, a fresh coat of paint is a great way to brighten up accessories for your home this season.

Another great idea is turning a traditional outdoor terracotta pot into an indoor centrepiece with some creative stripes and bold patterns. For this, paint the entire pot a base colour with the lightest shade first, then let dry. Use painters tape to create your desired pattern and brush on your accent colour. Once dry, carefully peel off the tape to reveal the pattern and add fresh flowers.
