Question of the Week: What Do You Do With Your Books?

One of my dreams is to one day have a library and to have all the time in the world to arrange the shelves. Yes, I enjoy bookshelf arranging. If you have a lot of books, changing how you display them is an easy way to shake yourself out of the haven't-changed-things-for-a-while decorating doldrums. There are countless opinions on how to arrange books as demonstrated in the photos above: in piles (which I love), by one colour, by multiple colours, or higgedy-piggedy and carefree, which is my personal preference seeing as it's my home and all.

But, and this is a question I've been asking myself lately as I prepare to move, is there such a thing as too many books? What if they have pretty spines? Can I give up that overpriced, underused, but gorgeous Chaucer textbook that I only used for one semester?

How do you arrange your books? Do you have a lot? Can a person have too many? Let us know what you think!
