Photo: Caplan's Appliances show room in Toronto. (A great store BTW, if you're in the Toronto area, with top notch selection of appliance options, not just stainless. They've a few promotions on right now as well!)
First off, stainless appliances have been popular for more than two decades now, and I think it’s fair to say that there is ‘stainless’ and then there is stainless… My parents have ‘stainless’ appliance from the mid 90s and let me tell you, they don’t look far behind the original mobile phone.
But more and more I hear people referring to stainless appliances as tacky. They are certainly the standard in every modern kitchen, and as such, a tad overused, but tacky? If stainless is tacky, where are we to go next?
LG has brought colour back to the appliance, and many are camouflaging their dishwashers with the same veneer as their cabinetry, but will that be the new stainless?
What do you think? Are you sick of the stainless reign?
