The holidays are just around the corner. For those of you who would like to create a mid mod–inspired table setting or holiday party, who better to take your cues from than the recent King and Queen of the ’50s and ’60s, Don and Megan Draper from the TV show Mad Men?
The Drapers’s kitchen and dining space is warm and extremely daring when it comes to colour. Uninhibited, it sets a perfect tone for a winter-time get-together where people can drink scotch, listen to records and idealize the future over some decadent rack of lamb and fondue. Creating this ambiance in your home starts with the furniture and dishware and is completed by all the little details that coalesce to create a great night: classic music, home-cooked food and bottomless drinks.
A teak or rosewood Danish modern dining table and chairs are the epitome of this era. There is definitely freedom when it comes to mixing and matching the side chairs and end chairs.
