Makeover: A Bargain MidMod Chair Turns Gorgeous

It's Makeover Month, everybody!!  As a decor enthusiast, I tend to offer my opinion at times and in places where it is not, perhaps, solicited. One such place and time was my colleague's condo, which she matter-of-factly mentioned she wished to update.

I, having made numerous insinuating grimaces toward her existing decor, was all too eager to get her started. I'll admit, I was (am) bossy.  I demanded to oversee all browsing and purchasing of furniture, bombarded her inbox with links to unaffordable, unavailable European luxury, and insisted on iron patience while we painstakingly weaved her new look together one, cherry-picked item at a time.

She flipped me the bird and went and bought THIS chair for just over $100 at a Toronto vintage shop.

"Lysol: A still life"

"Nice lines" I blurted out, miffed at her incidental ability to pick out a chair without me.  But those cushions!!!!!!!!!! NO. NO. WAY. IN. HE*L. Community centre vinyl stuffed with 50-year-old, Crunchie-bar foam? I certainly wasn't going to let that exist.

So I picked out the fabric ("Belami" in robin's egg, from Designer Fabrics Outlet, Toronto) the upholstery shop and the detailing (none, really, just four button tufts on each cushion). She chose the throw (no comment.)

Personally, if I may, I think it's gorgeous.  Thoughts?

Stay tuned for more makeover-themed goodness on Style Sheet through out all of February!
