One of our favourite designers, Judith Mackin, owner of TUCK STUDIO, completed a gorgeous makeover of a home in Saint John, New Brunswick with her design studio, PUNCH INSIDE. Chad and Glenda Williams, originally from Nova Scotia, recently moved from Los Angeles to Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. Chad, a gastroenterologist IBD specialist, relocated here for his work.
I met this couple when they came to TUCK Studio, my design and decor studio in Saint John. They found us ‘on-line’ and decided to check us out. Glenda had spotted the ‘Love is Blind’ Braille ceramic vase by Toronto’s Jessica Lertvalai and knew she wanted it for her space.
Glenda confided in me at the time of their visit that she was ‘stuck’. She had managed to pick out light fixtures, flooring, the right white paint and to design her kitchen and choose the right appliances, but now it was time to fill in the rest of her space and she didn’t know where to start. To that point, all she’d purchased was a sofa from Restoration Hardware. The couple knew they wanted to replace the old furnishings currently occupying the space. They’d also need a lot in terms of décor items in that they didn’t bring much with them from their last home in Los Angeles.

Could I help by decorating the two rooms (family room & adjoining kitchen) and picking out furnishings, art and decor items that would tie the two rooms together?
As far as ‘Before & After’ are concerned I’d have to say the Williams ‘before’ is the BEST I’ve ever walked into: everything she had designed to this point was terrific. For me, a major fan of white design, this space promised to be a joy to complete. So, after a few interviews with Chad and Glenda to establish how they live, their personal likes and dislikes, and how they envisioned using the space, we got started with our design.
