This Halloween, welcome trick-or-treaters with a witchy feet cauldron that holds all of your candy!

Materials

  • 2 cardboard poster tubes: Strong poster tubes work the best.
  • One pair of black, pointy-toed boots: The more character the better. Try to pick out a pair with low or flat heels. Make sure to check your local used clothing store for great deals.
  • A plastic cauldron: This time of year, you can find these at your local craft store.
  • 2 rolls of ribbon: I chose a wide green ribbon and a wide silver ribbon. Have fun choosing colours that catch your eye. Orange and black would also work very well.
  • Hot glue gun.

DIY

STEP 1: Getting leggy

To create the witch’s legs, cut your poster tube into 2 pieces that are both approximately 1 foot (12") in length. To create the illusion of tights, use your hot glue gun to attach ribbon to the tubes. Glue one end of the ribbon to the base of the tube and wrap the ribbon around until the tube is completely covered. Repeat this step on the second tube.

STEP 2: Getting attached

Cover one end of the ribbon-wrapped poster tube with hot glue and attach it to the bottom of the plastic cauldron. Do the same with the second tube. Keep in mind that when you fill your cauldron with candy, you’ll want to have glued your poster tubes far enough apart that any weight in the cauldron is distributed evenly.

STEP 3: Getting BOO-ted

Cover the other end of your poster tubes with hot glue and slip each tube into its boot. Your cauldron should be able to stand on its own and be very sturdy. If you need additional stability, you can stuff your shoes with newspaper.

STEP 4: Accessorize

Use your second roll of ribbon to add decorative bows to the legs and handle of the cauldron.

Now, fill with candy and await the arrival of your trick-or-treaters!
