Now you’ll be eating your words about your aunt’s plastic covered furniture -- it’s the hip thing to do!
No really, I didn’t think it was possible either, but an arty-farty girlfriend of mine produced this out-of-the-box treatment at a party not too long ago, deftly slaying the stigma of plastic-covered furniture.

Clear plastic and coloured duck tape design by Safiya Randera of Grapepear.
Anticipating a rowdy gathering she broke out the plastic and the duct tape to protect her sprawling, contemporary white sofa (an absolute must in an old loft space such as hers), and with a little inspiration from Piet Mondrian, turned the project into the picture of style and function.
Don’t you agree? I could see this taken in a myriad of directions; rainbow, Rubik’s cube, tic tac toe?
Does she in fact succeed in hippifying the phenomenon of plastic-covered couches?
