Create a special lamp for your little princess by customizing a standard drum shade.

Materials:
- Sewing machine or needle and thread
- Tape measure
- Scissors
- Stapler
- Long thin elastic
- Hot glue gun
- Ribbon
- Chiffon
- Small faux gems or flowers
STEP 1: Start by measuring your lampshade’s circumference at its centre, and its height.

STEP 2: Cut a piece of chiffon that is three times the length and two times the height of your lampshade (add an extra four inches to the height for the seam).
STEP 3: Fold the fabric height in half, pinning if you need to, and sew the length of the fabric together.
STEP 4: Follow by sewing one end of the fabric height together.

STEP 5: Take your elastic and use it to measure the top and bottom of your lampshade. Cut each elastic piece two inches shorter than the circumference.
STEP 6: Sew the elastic pieces to the closed end of the chiffon – one at the top, and one at the bottom. Place the elastic in the opposite direction of the fabric.
STEP 7: Pull the chiffon inside out.

STEP 8: Pull the elastic pieces to almost meet the open end of the chiffon, and sew them to the ends – on at the top and one at the bottom.
STEP 9: Fold the ends inside, pace on top of the opposite end, and sew together.
STEP 10: Turn inside out and pull over lampshade.
STEP 11: The elastics should hold over the top and bottom tightly. Disperse the folds evenly around the lampshade.

STEP 12: Using the measurement you took of the lampshade centre, calculate how many inches apart your bows should be spaced out. (My shade is 40 inches round, so I chose to do 10 bows four inches apart). First make your bows, then cut your ribbon.
STEP 13: Fold the loops so they overlap slightly in the back. Staple (or sew) centre in place.
STEP 14: Measure from centre to centre of bow, and repeat until you complete the length of your ribbon. Cut to size.
STEP 15: Paste faux gems or flowers in the centre using hot glue.

STEP 16: Add a dab of glue to your ribbon end, and pull together holding in place a few seconds for the glue to set.
