The cost of real estate in Vancouver is so expensive, the thought of buying a home is completely inconceivable to some. Unless, that is, you happen to be the resourceful man who decided if he couldn’t cover a down payment for a Vancouver home, he’d get someone else to.
Chris Boomhour took to crowdtilt.com to harness the compassion of others in an attempt to raise $25,000 to cover a down payment on a $455,000 home. He cited the high cost of living in Vancouver, paltry entry level salaries and a desire to prove the power of crowd sourcing as the catalysts behind his scheme.
What’s in it for the donators, besides the good karma Chris cites? A draw for each dollar donated to win a gift card for $1,000 to Amazon, but only on the condition that Chris’s project reaches its goal of $25,000. The current status of the project? Expired, with a grand total of $27.
Looks like Chris might have to settle for a rental after all.
