As part of a lead-up to IDS 2012, my first posting featured the ‘must see’ exhibitors of Studio North. Now, for part two of this four-part series, let’s tour the ‘rest’ of the Nation’s finest Contemporary Fair ‘must visit’ booths! Shauna Levy and her team of producers have once again pulled together a lively design show that surpasses the year before. No easy feat. Over the next five days, I'll explain the personal journey I'll be taking throughout the exhibitor floor as I search out products for my clients, my studio, and maybe a few for my home.
FLOS
Lighting design giant FLOS is constantly introducing cutting edge design. I am particularly looking forward to visiting their FLOS Power Station on the IDS 2012 floor this year for one specific reason: the new “D'E-Light” designed by Philippe Starck.

Can anything be more beautifully designed in terms of aesthetics and function? A chrome table light that charges your ipod, ipad or iphone while providing you with directed light.

As an added bonus, if you happen to be visiting on Trade day (Friday January 27th), you can visit the FLOS Power station from 4:15 – 5:00 pm and listen to informal discussions from Piero Lissoni, Fabio Novembre, and Piero Gandini, CEO of of FLOS. While there, recharge your devices, take in the avant-garde installation of the Soft Architecture wall, and view the latest lights from Citterio, Bouroullecs, Osgerby & Barber!
