A Cool Window Garden for Condos

Barreau & Charbonnet, a design company in France, created Volet Végétal, a garden that hangs outside of an apartment or condo, providing a little piece of “land” for those living in a concrete jungle, without so much as a balcony to house a few potted plants. In 2012 it was entered in the Jardin Jardin design contest in Paris and is currently in development for distribution.

Volet Végétal is mounted on the exterior of an apartment window and lies perpendicular to it, allowing for optimal sunlight, and creating a “green view” over the city for homeowners. When plants need watering and tending to, it’s pulled up to fit within the window frame for easy reach.

Could you envision this being used on Canadian apartments and condos? Would you use it?
