Picking is the new Antiquing! This past Friday HGTV premiered American Pickers,
a show that follows professional pickers Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, as
they travel coast to coast in search of Americana gold. But we here in
this vast country of ours have our own treasure to unearth, enough to
warrant Canadian Pickers, premiering tomorrow, Tuesday, April 12th at 10pm ET on History Television.
In a nutshell, picking differs from antiquing in that instead of browsing through your favourite, well-merchandised vintage or collectables shop, you get on the road and go straight to the source: the barns, basements, chicken coops and outback homesteads that your favourite dealers go to for their inventory. Of course, most pickers do it to turn a profit, but as you'll notice, picking is more a labour of love than a money-maker, even for the best in the business!
In the premiere, Canadian pickers Sheldon Smithens and Scott Cozens travel around Alberta in search of the greatest pick. Among their haul are these three picks -- which turns the biggest profit for Sheldon and Scott?
A) Windmill Weight
B) Collection of Old Radios
C) Totem Pole
