Behind the Scenes of Disaster DIY with Bryan Baeumler

I know he's married. And Sarah Baeumler is soooo lovely. But I'd like to just come out and say that Bryan Baeumler is kind of my boyfriend. (I'm sure many of you are rolling your eyes right now and telling me to take a number.)  But really, every time I ask to drop by for a little vis, he's always such a good sport.

Elana with Bryan, on set of Disaster DIY

Earlier this morning, camera guy Talha and I paid a visit to the set of Disaster DIY (currently shooting more episodes for Season 3, airing now.) The 'set' is actually a home in Burlington, ON, where a lovely family of seven were making do with one bathroom. The other bathroom had been under renovation for close to two years -- dad was in over his head.

Enter B Baeum, and the family is already lamenting his departure, as they had the time of their lives.  For a glimpse of what it's like to host Bryan and the DDIY crew in your home for three weeks, stay tuned for interviews with all involved to come! (Yes, each epi is shot over a three-week period, construction time included.)

I understand their thrill. Along with the usual questions of boxers, briefs or thong, I actually got all into it and dirty today! (Shocker.)  Bryan and I reconvened in a place that holds a special significance for us: the shower.  There, in the shower with Mr. Baeumler, I grouted for the first time! In a black skirt and nylons, never you mind, and it was fun!  (Spoken as one who's never needed to grout.) Behold the the shower I had the pleasure of grouting (left) -- we have the whole mess on video.

Aside from the sheer silliness of my attempts at being a good pupil, Bryan actually managed to soldier through it and get a few good grouting tips in there. We even moved on to the living room where we discussed laying a floating floor, crouching like two old-time construction buddies.

Videos of the good times on the DDIY set coming soon, and do check out the full episodes we have of Disaster DIY in our Video Centre.
