Discuss Home By Novogratz Episodes 5 and 6

We saw two very different episodes of Home By Novogratz this week -- the first client was NBA star, the Boston Celtics Paul Pierce. He wanted to re-do an old storage at his Inglewood, CA high school alma mater to transform it into a cool student-athlete lounge as part of his Truth on Health foundation to help fight childhood obesity. (Full disclosure: I'm a basketball fan and a Paul Pierce fan, so I was really into this episode!)

I liked the light fixtures and the large scale photography. It was a heart-warming project and I know the Novogratzes loved it. How do I know? Because Robert posted on our Facebook fan page that "Tonight's episodes are two of our favorites" -- I love it when the hosts get all interactive.

Next up we have two adorable (and lucky!) surfing sisters who own a beach house and are leaving the design and their $40,000 budget in the Novogratzes capable hands. The house is in need of a whole new kitchen, staircase and the floors are in rough shape, too.

Cortney brings her daughters to designer Betsey Johnson's store to learn more about using bold colours -- especially pink, Johnson's signature shade. The girls leave the store with shopping bags (another set of lucky sisters!) and Cortney leaves with some solid inspiration...think pink!

The stairs were striped (love them!), the living room was swathed in silver and pink accent wallpaper, the kitchen got a pink stove and the main bedroom (which sister gets that one?) received pink-stained hardwood floors.

The bedroom also gets the custom artwork treatment from street artist Matt Siren, and the sisters loved it.

Let's chat in the comments. Are you watching Home By Novogratz and what did you think of this week's episodes?

Comments:

Again caught the tail end of the last episode and after reading your blog and seeing the pictures, I'm not a fan. That was a lot of money for what was done.  The lounge, however, looks like a fun place for kids and anything that can help fight childhood obesity is a great cause.

i used to be a huge fan. i found their style to be a breath of fresh air.  but now i find that a lot of design elements are used in most of their installations (vintage letters, light boxes, rugs, etc.)  i know it is their signature but there is a fine line between a personnal style and redundancy

I loved both episodes. The beach house was particularly good. The only thing I thought was goofy in the school lounge was spray painting trophies.

I can't get into this show. Their style makes no sense to me.

I agree. I can't get into this show. I love many styles and am

Open to them, but sorry not these.

I admire the couple's energy.
