Welcome back! I hope everyone had a relaxing holiday. Our new winter schedule started yesterday with one of the most hotly anticipated design shows, Home By Novogratz. The folks on Twitter were excited to see this New-York-based husband and wife team on HGTV Canada and I have to say that I am, too. I'll be posting discuss posts every week highlighting the after photos (which we're super-happy to have) and we also have full episodes available to watch.
Episode 1: Pat and Rika's Williamsburg Loft
A Brooklyn-based couple moved into a cool loft space with $14,000 to furnish it all. Bob and Cortney took the couple's industrial cozy aesthetic and artistic sensibilities and created a romantic first home.
A personal message in a bold colour and large font adds drama to the living room.
The dining room wine rack is an antique; a gift from the Novogratzes.
The bedroom received a graphic black and white focal wall and my favourite part...
...a professionally drawn piece of art on the chalkboard painted ceiling!
Episode 2: Babakul at Fred Segal, Santa Monica
Bob and Cortney headed to L.A. to begin their first retail space project at Babakul in Fred Segal. They turned a 4000 square foot space into a chic shopping destination (worthy of the assumed high price tag, I bet!). The light box treatment created impact on the brick wall -- an idea the Novogratzes took from their own home.
The library area gives waiting shopping companions a place to comfortably sit and relax. Love the giant Debbie Harry artwork!
The cash counter would make a lovely kitchen island, yes? It looks like marble, but it's made from wood.
What did you think of Home By Novogratz? I loved the pace and style of the show as well as their design style. See you next Tuesday!
