Discuss: Sarah's House 4, Master Ensuite and Rec Room

Ah, another white and bright master ensuite -- I don't get tired of them, do you? Sarah and Tommy went a bit traditional, but this master bathroom is a classic choice. I liked the glass-fronted cabinets and the soft, striped drapes.

And, who doesn't dream of a soaker tub? I'm not a bath person now, but that's because Toronto rental apartments aren't known for their deep, luxurious tubs. I could totally be converted.

If I one criticism, it would be that while the details are gorgeous and add texture (the inset border on the floor and in the shower for example), I'd like to see a bit of colour here and there in the accessories.

There was no lack of colour in the rec room, however, and this room is my personal favourite from the whole season. Hello red!

I, too, fell in love with that gorgeous rug. You can see a close up of the pattern in the Episode Gallery. This rooms reminds me of another red basement from Sarah 101. See the resemblance? This rec room has more natural light, thanks to Sarah spending the extra cash for a walkout.

There's a lot of different areas in this room -- the desk, the comfy couch and chairs, the pool table -- a family could spend all their time down here. But then again, they'd be missing out on all the beautiful room upstairs!

What did you think of these two episodes? Which room has been your favourite all season?

Too cluttered and busy. I find most of Sarah's spaces are far too cluttered for my taste, she puts several seating area's in one room and that's too much.

No impressed with this season of Sarah's House.  It is very unrealistic.  I was looking forward to tips about building a home and decorating it but I do not have a $100,000 upgrade budget.  Sarah & Tommy, pls come back to reality.  I would like to see them buy a $400,000 house and have a $40,000 upgrade budget.  That is more realistic.

I agree with Shauna - The "bargains" Sarah and Tommy find are out of reach for most viewers, unless you are trying to target viewers who can afford million dollar homes.    "Really dislike" the Dining Room.

The bathroom is superb...very soothing.  Not a fan of the grey & red color scheme in the living are however.

I agree that this season was not for the average person. who has the money to spend on that kind of stuff. at the end an episode they would show what the decorating cost was and some rooms were like 20,000$. WHO HAS THAT KIND OF MONEY TO SPEND ON ONE ROOM??? I would never even spend that on my whole house. yes I admit the rooms were beautiful. I loved everything except the dining room (disgusting) but if we switch back to reality the only people who can afford this stuff are people who have too much money. come back to earth Sarah and Tommy.

Arrgh, just hate that living room! This was clearly not made for me. I would have to agree that the living room looks too busy. Too many tables, too many different types of chairs, all the upholstered stuff, red walls...

But you know what, some people like it like that. So, that's fine.

The bathroom obviously is way too large to be affordable for the average user. It's ok to dream though and I would be quite happy to have this kind of generous bathroom. Again, I would leave away those chairs. Love the floor and the tub!

Sarah and Tommy are the best designers in the world!  Once again I'm amazed and of course, love almost everything they have done (sorry not crazy about the dining room either).  I, too, cannot afford the million or so that this house will cost.  However, with a little imagination, I am slowly implementing some of Sarah's ideas into my house at very little cost.  See my blog at "julieshomedecor.blogspot.com".   Next up will be the kitchen (using one of Sarah's paint colours on the wall), master bedroom (I'm thinking the mirror inset on the cupboard door idea may appear here, wallpapered feature wall and a mirror with a mirrored frame) and wait til you see my new home office/sewing room in RED.  Sarah and Tommy are my style inspirations - keep up the good work!

I, too agree with Shauna. Purchasing a $730,000 home and a $100,000 upgrade budget on top of that is out of reach for the average person. It's quite easy for Sarah and Tommy to make it look good when they have huge spaces to work with and a very big budget. Space is at such a premium in Southern Ontario so I would like to see them buy a smallish home (bungalow, semi-detached, etc.) and furnish/decorate the entire house for maximum $25,000. I think when they are under those constraints we'll see what they really are capable of doing.

I like the rec room very much. It is very inviting, happy and a place where you can relax. The colour theme for me is perfect!

But for the Master ensuite, I  don't like it at all! It is too cold, too white,  not happy it is not a place for me where you  would like to take your time to get ready  !  And for the Master bedroom. I like it , it is fresh , comfortable, but there is one thing I did not  understand why she chose that colour for the bench in front of the bed?! This peach colour is ugly!!! Otherwise , it is  nice. I just love Sarahs sense of style and wish I too had that kind of money to spend. I love to treasure hunt and am able to find similiar items to suit my budget. I am lucky to have a gifted imagination and with Sarahs stye tips can implement the same look for next to zero money. Classy doesn't always have to mean tons of money. Thanks Sarah for the inspiration of style. Just take what you like about a style and follow the same steps but with your budget. Can't afford the $80 paint then get the $25 (you can still get the same color). Its like that with everything. I just wish I could find someone to do the physical labour for me like Sarahs team. Now thats expensive.

I know Sarah obviously has more money to spend than we do but the trick is to find the similar style with what you can afford. Sarah has taught us some great things like how to mix fabrics and colours over the years. For sure we dont all like the same thing but dont bash just learn something and use it.
